What are fasteners?
Fasteners are a type of mechanical component used for securing connections and are extremely widely used. They are employed across a broad range of industries, including energy, electronics, electrical appliances, machinery, chemicals, metallurgy, moulds, hydraulics and many others. Fasteners of all kinds can be found in various machinery, equipment, vehicles, ships, railways, bridges, buildings, structures, tools, instruments, chemical plants, gauges and everyday items; they are the most widely used basic mechanical components. They are characterised by a vast array of types and specifications, with diverse performance characteristics and applications, and are highly standardised, serialised and universal in nature. Consequently, fasteners that comply with existing national standards are sometimes referred to as standard fasteners, or simply standard parts.
